Parents & Students:
The 20 students from the Park Hill South High School band performed very well yesterday at the 2018 Missouri All-State Band Auditions held at Hickman High School in Columbia, MO. Students were selected to be in the actual ensemble, an alternate to the ensemble or given Honorable Mention recognition. All of these designations are an amazing accomplishment for any student. There are hundreds of students on some instruments competing for only a few spots in the prestigious All-State Band, Jazz Band or Orchestra. Alternate designation means if a student in the band is not able to participate due to eligibility, illness or family emergency, the alternate will be called to participate in their absence. The Honorable Mention band is a band of recognition but does not perform as a group.
The State Band, Jazz Ensemble and Orchestra perform annually at the Missouri Music Educators Association Convention held in the final week of January at the Tan-Tar-A Marriott Resort in Lake Ozark, Missouri (January 24-27, 2018).
