Andy Foerschler is a percussionist and music educator in Kansas City, where he teaches percussion at Blue Valley HS and Park Hill South HS. He is also the founding president of Percussion on the Plains – a percussion-centric arts outreach and education non-profit.
He has performed in orchestras under the direction of Leonard Slatkin, Asher Fisch, Rossen Milanov, and Cliff Colnot, and has been fortunate enough to work with composers as notable as John Corigliano, Zhou Long, Bernard Rands, and Chen Yi. He has performed with the Kansas City Symphony and the National Festival Orchestra, marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and is a member of the KC Chiefs Rumble Drumline. His students have earned success at the local, regional, and national levels in both concert and marching settings.
Andy received his BM with Honors in Percussion from Indiana University, and his MM in Orchestral Performance at the UMKC Conservatory of Music & Dance. In addition to his high school programs and non-profit responsibilities, he maintains an active freelance career as a classical percussionist, drumset artist, private teacher, clinician, and arranger in and around Kansas City.
