Included in this post are links to three important documents PHS Marching Band members and families should read: physical examination form, MSHSAA pre-participation document, and Park Hill protocols for summer activities.
Please note for our new members that participation in marching band does require a physical. However, if your student participated in a MSHSAA activity in the 2019-2020 school year and completed a physical within that window, they do not need to complete a physical for the 2020-2021 school year. MSHSAA has changed the requirement for physicals to every two years. Both of the MSHSAA documents can be returned at our summer camp.
Please take a moment to read through the Park Hill School District Protocols for Summer Activities. We will send out our permission slip mentioned in the document next week to help avoid document fatigue, but please make sure you’re aware of the expectations for students, teachers, and parents. I should note that these protocols will be revised throughout the summer. The intention is to relax some of the regulations as health conditions improve, which is why we’re currently planning to have our summer camp as scheduled. We will keep you posted as we receive information from central office.
Our first event this summer will be June 23rd for Percussion, Baritone, and Tuba players. Baritone and Tuba players can pick up their marching instruments between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Percussion students will receive their equipment and have a rehearsal with Mr. Lovell from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. All percussion students will need to bring their own water bottle!!!! As stated in the protocol document, students will not have access to the building. We understand if anyone is not available on the 23rd, please let us know if you can’t make it. Next week we will try to provide further notice of summer events for percussion and color guard, as we only received permission to have events in June last week.
