Marching Band Weekly Update 09/09/18

Hello Band Families:

We have a busy few weeks ahead, with a home game on Friday night. Please remind your students to be preparing for the upcoming symphonic band auditions on Sept. 18.

PIMB Meeting – Tomorrow night, Monday, Sep 10 at 6.30 pm at PHS in the band room. Please join us as we discuss several upcoming activities, including Senior Night, Symphonic Auditions, Hospitality needs, Marching Festival and Jazz band activities among other things. We will keep the meeting to an hour, in order to respect your time.

Remember that we the rehearsal schedule has changed, and we will be at Preston Field this Tuesday evening.

We have busy week ahead of us. Please look at the schedule carefully. This Friday will be our first performance in full uniform. We will not have an extra community performance this week. We do have our only Saturday practice this week. It was originally intended to be a full day with a parent performance in the afternoon, but we will only be rehearsing. If anyone would like to watch the progress of the show, we will run everything we know the last fifteen minutes of rehearsal starting at 12:15.


Volunteer Opportunities!

We still have several openings for volunteers:

Field Prop Help – we will need three people for this Friday night game, and then more for the contests to push props and set up drum major podiums. Please email Lisa Uhrmacher if you are interested in either home games, or games and contests.

Symphonic Audition Room Monitors – we will need room monitors for the symphonic auditions on 18th. I will send a sign up later this week when we know how many students have signed up and how long the rooms will run. Typically we have 4 rooms, and run two shifts – 6:00 – 8, and 8 – 9:15. If you are interested, please email Lisa Uhrmacher.

Prop Committee – needs your old sheets and linens. The prop team is working on the props for this year’s show. They need some very colourful scrap material, old sheets, linens, fabric to decorate the podiums to look like a marketplace. Please bring your donations to the field on Tuesday night and give to Katie Ervin.

Thinking aheadCappuccino Night is in November, and will include a silent auction. Please start to be on the lookout for donations from businesses you own, or frequent. Restaurant gift cards, Event tickets, Professional Services, Décor Items all make great auction items. Please e-mail with questions, more information to come.

As always, we appreciate your gift of time and talents, and your students appreciate all you do to make our Band program across both campuses such a high-quality experience. The extra things you enable make a huge difference to your students. Everyone has something to offer, and it does take a village to raise a band
